Wednesday is United Way Day at Oldies 1013 and this week, Linda Bateman, the Director of Youth Partners which operates the Dolly Parton Imagination Library in Jefferson County joined Jennifer Lipp and Will Jenkins to talk about it.

The goal of the program is to put books in the hands of young children and Lipp asked Bateman to explain how that is being done.

She went on to say that to get kids signed up and ensure that they keep getting books, somebody has to pay for them.

Lipp then asked how a person could get their child or grandchild signed up and Bateman responded this way.

She said the books are mailed from a warehouse in Tennessee and it costs about $25 a year for each child to receive a book each month. Youth Partners receives a bill for each child in the database who receives books.
