UAPB Football: Khalil Arnold Named Phil Steele Preseason All-SWAC Third Team
PINE BLUFF, AR.- Two words… “VERY PHYSICAL!” Khalil Arnold, a redshirt sophomore linebacker, has been named as part of the Phil Steele All-SWAC Preseason Third Team.
The Lovejoy, Georgia native returns to the Golden Lions as one of the leading tacklers, known for his aggressive style and quick hands to get off the line of scrimmage and into the quarterback’s space. His IQ has a nose for the ball, and he played alongside a former all-SWAC linebacker last year for UAPB.
Arnold started in two games and played in 10 games throughout the season, taking the majority of the snaps. He finished the season with 4 sacks for a loss of 19 yards, 40 tackles (26 solos, 8.0 tackles for a loss for 26 yards), 2 forced fumbles, 2 fumble recoveries, and 1 QBH.
The Golden Lions will kick off the season on Thursday, August 29, against the Arkansas Razorbacks in Little Rock, AR. The game will air on ESPNU at 6:30 p.m. CST.
