UAPB Athletics: Alex Wade Named Assistant Director of Sports Performance Olympic Sports

PINE BLUFF, AR.- The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff athletic department has announced the hiring of Alex Wade as the Assistant Director of Sports Performance for Olympic Sports.

Wade joins Golden Lions Nation after spending two years at Louisiana Tech, where she served as the Assistant Sports Performance Coach for the softball and tennis teams from 2022 to 2024. During her tenure at Tech, Wade played a crucial role in helping the women’s tennis team achieve over 15 wins for the first time in history, while also maintaining a roster of six players with no significant injuries throughout the season.

A native of Los Angeles, California, and raised in Louisiana, Wade has dedicated her professional life to sports and exercise. She completed her undergraduate degree in Health and Exercise Science at Northwestern State University in Louisiana and is currently pursuing a master’s degree in Applied Sports Mental Health Consultancy at National University. In addition to her academic pursuits, Alex serves as a First Lieutenant in the Louisiana Army National Guard.

In 2022, Wade gained hands-on experience through internships with the women’s softball and swim and dive teams at the University of Arkansas, where she assisted athletes with their recovery by creating a digital recovery plan. This plan allows athletes to access detailed exercises and visuals at any time. During her undergraduate studies, she also worked with the men’s basketball, softball, football, and soccer teams at Northwestern State University.

At UAPB, Alex is responsible for the women’s softball, soccer, volleyball teams, and baseball pitchers.
