During a court hearing Monday, Prosecuting Attorney S. Kyle Hunter said in the late afternoon, two police officers were sent to 2708 W. 8th Ave., in response to a reported auto theft.

Reading from an affidavit by Detective Dante Nicholson, Hunter said Williams told police he had ben hired by a tow company to pick up the vehicle and Latimore said he was helping Williams for money,

Hunter said Latimore has no prior convictions but Williams has seven prior felony convictions for theft of property and drug related offenses and is on probation. Because of that, Jefferson County District Judge Kim Bridgforth set a $5,000 cash bond for Williams and a $5,000 secured bond for Latimore after ruling prosecutors have probable cause to charge them with theft of property. Both were told to come back to court Aug. 19.
