The 150th running of the Kentucky Derby tomorrow will feature a horse owned by a Star City farmer. Mystik Dan, owned by 4 G Racing, will be one of 20 loading into the gate. Mystik Dan’s ownership includes Lance Gasaway, a Star City farmer and former football All-American at UAM. Other owners include his cousin Brent Gasaway, Brent’s wife Sharilyn and Daniel Hamby III. Veteran jockey Brian Hernandez Jr. will be in the saddle. Gasaway manages an 18,000 acre farm in Star City. Mystik Dan finished third in the recent Arkansas Derby and was able to accumulate enough points to get in the race in Louisville. Mystik Dan is currently 20-1 in the betting odds. The winning purse for tomorrow’s Kentucky Derby is $3.1 million dollars.
