Stuttgart Native David Walker Becomes Highest NFL Draftee from University of Central Arkansas

David Walker, a standout defensive end from Stuttgart who played at the University of Central Arkansas, made history by becoming the highest NFL draftee from his school. He was selected in the fourth round, 121st overall, by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the 2025 NFL Draft.

Walker’s collegiate career at UCA was marked by record-setting performances, including becoming the school’s all-time leader in sacks (31) and tackles for loss (60) over just three seasons.

His senior year was particularly impressive, with 68 tackles, 23 tackles for loss, and 10.5 sacks in 12 games. Walker also achieved career highs in forced fumbles, quarterback hurries, and pass breakups. His remarkable play earned him the Buck Buchanan Award as the top defensive player in the FCS and numerous All-America honors.

Walker transferred to UCA from Southern Arkansas after his freshman year and quickly made an impact. He was named conference Defensive Player of the Year three times and set a school single-game record with 6.5 tackles for loss against Tarleton State in 2023.

As a senior, he was recognized as the national defensive player of the year by the FCS Athletic Directors Association. His selection by the Buccaneers marks a significant milestone for UCA and highlights his potential to succeed at the professional level.
