ORIGINAL STORY:
An “apparent smell of smoke” led to a “fire drill procedure” at the Sheridan Intermediate School Monday afternoon according to a statement released by the Sheridan School District.
According to the statement the Sheridan Fire Department arrived on the scene along with school administrators, and an investigation is still ongoing into the incident.
The statement from the district says “Staff and students reacted swiftly and appropriately, following all protocols. Because students were evacuated at the end of the day, they were not allowed back in to retrieve their backpacks, books, etc.”
The district is expected to release more information on the incident later this evening.
