A Pine Bluff man was arrested after he allegedly shot himself in the leg and left the scene with two small children, then was involved in a traffic accident on Interstate 530.
On Jan. 1, Police were called to an address on Needles Drive where the children’s mother said Donald Price, 34, had been “acting abnormally” and told her they needed to go to his mother’s house on Evergreen Drive.
Detective Keith Banks reported that the woman said Price had gone into their residence, got a handgun and while waiving it around shot himself in the leg. He then left the residence in a vehicle with the twin children.
Deputy Prosecutor Caleb Conrad said during a court hearing Wednesday that after Price was arrested, the children were turned over to their mother.
Pine Bluff District Judge John Kearney set a $5,000 bond for Price after ruling prosecutors have probable cause to charge him with aggravated assault on a family or household member.
Price said he would hire his own attorney and was ordered to have no contact with the children or their mother until the case is settled.
