The Sheridan Fire Department recently received $7,000 from the WoodmenLife Outreach Foundation for a Safe Haven Baby Box.
Sheridan Assistant Fire Chief Joseph Scott spoke with Deltaplex News to discuss the Safe Haven Box.
The Department already has a Safe Haven Box with testing underway to make sure it is operating to standard, so Scott explained what the money received will go towards.
Once a baby is place inside of the Safe Haven Box multiple alarms will go off to notify firemen that a baby is inside of it. From there, medical care begins.
The Sheridan Fire Department is the first volunteer fire department in the State of Arkansas to receive a Safe Haven Box under the new legislation, according to Scott.
