Andrea Chambers, a former treasurer for Second Chance Fur Dogs, faced legal consequences after pleading “no contest” to a misdemeanor charge of falsifying business records.

This charge was related to the handling of missing funds during her tenure.

Judge Robert Gibson imposed a sentence of one year of unsupervised probation, with a stipulation prohibiting Chambers from handling cash for any nonprofit during this period. Additionally, Chambers agreed to make a $1,500 donation to the charity.

The investigation by the local police department revealed that Chambers had allegedly taken $15,000 to purchase a van for the organization. However, records indicated that only $12,000 was spent on the van, leaving $3,000 unaccounted for.

The investigation could not determine the whereabouts of the missing funds.

Chambers conviction comes after Amy Abney, the former president of Second Chance Fur Dogs, received 10 years probation for felony charges involving missing money with the same non-profit in February.
