
Scott Saffold of Monticello, Arkansas, has been appointed as the chairman of the University of Arkansas Foundation, Inc. His term, which spans two years, commenced on July 1, 2024. The board operates to support the University of Arkansas System.
Saffold holds the position of executive vice president and senior loan officer at Union Bank & Trust in Monticello, a role he has fulfilled since 2005. He possesses a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting from the University of Arkansas at Monticello (UAM) and is a certified public accountant. Furthermore, Saffold is an alumnus of Leadership Arkansas Class V and the Southwest Graduate School of Banking at Southern Methodist University’s Cox School of Business. His community involvement is extensive, including roles on various civic and non-profit boards. Currently, he serves on the UAM board of visitors and the UAM Foundation Fund board of directors. Additionally, he holds the positions of treasurer for the Arkansas Bankers Association and vice chairman of the UAM board of visitors.
The University of Arkansas Foundation’s main objective is to foster higher education by obtaining private financial support for all segments and activities associated with the University of Arkansas. The foundation is empowered to receive, hold, invest, manage, and control property it acquires, using such assets for the benefit of the university’s campuses. The board, consisting of twenty-four members, is entrusted with overseeing the foundation’s mission, which includes managing assets exceeding $2.9 billion.
