Richard “Rick” Victorino got his first look at the Jefferson County Quorum Court Monday night, joining a special meeting that had been called in an attempt to pass a 2025 budget.
Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders appointed Victorino to replace Justice of the Peace Danny Holcomb, who resigned near the end of January after disagreements over the 2025 budget with some of the other members of the county’s legislative body.
Victorino, a Republican, will serve the remaining 22 months of Holcomb’s term and talked to Deltaplex News about being approached about the position.
He formerly served as the Constable of Spring Township until being beaten in the 2024 Republican Party primary and is a member of the Watson Chapel Volunteer Fire Department.
Deltaplex News asked him what he hoped to accomplish as a member of the Quorum Court.
In his first chance to vote, Victorino abstained from voting on the 2025 budget proposed by County Judge Gerald Robinson.
