The last time Muth and Mystik Dan met on the track, Muth had the upper hand, winning in the Arkansas Derby at Oaklawn. After Mystik Dan won the Kentucky Derby two weeks ago, a rematch was set up. That will not happen.

Muth, the betting favorite for the second leg of the Triple Crown has been scratched due to a spiking fever. This leaves Mystik Dan, a horse owned by Star City farmer Lance Gasaway, as the favorite to take this weekend’s race at Pimlico in Baltimore.

A win by Mystik Dan would put him into contention to win the Triple Crown, something that hasn’t been done since Justify did it in 2018.
