Travis Eugene Posey the  suspect in the mass shooting in Fordyce Friday plead not guilty in his first court appearance Tuesday.

Posey entered pleas of not guilty in Ouachita County to four counts of capital murder and ten charges of attempted capital murder for the shooting at the Mad Butcher grocery store.

The 44-year-old New Edinburg man has been held since being treated for injuries sustained while he exchanged gunfire with police Friday.

Judge Ryan Phillips said Tuesday’s first appearance by Posey was not an arraignment or a trial but instead a hearing to discuss probable cause, the defendant’s rights and bond.

Prosecutor Phillip Stone requested that Posey continue to be held without bond, which Phillips granted.

Late Tuesday afternoon, officials with the Arkansas State Police released the probable cause affidavit in the case, which gave a more exact timeline of the shooting and noted that investigators found a 9mm handgun and along with a 12-gauge shotgun from the scene.
