Pine Bluff Police Chief Denise Richardson was the guest speaker Wednesday at a meeting of the Pine Bluff Small Business Association and announced that a new camera system is being installed in the city in an effort to reduce crime.

Richardson began by saying there have been questions about Shot Spotter, a system that alerts law enforcement when guns are fired and pinpoints the location, but a system that is also very expensive.

Richardson said the system Pine Bluff is getting is currently being used in Little Rock, Memphis, Trumann and Jonesboro and Pine Bluff officials have toured those cities to see how the cameras are being monitored. She said police have a room set up and when it is functioning, invited members of the association to tour it.

Chief Richardson will be live on Oldies 101.3 FM’s Good Morning Deltaplex show Tuesday morning the 23rd at 8:30 with Will and Greg.
