A $5,000 cash-only bond was set Thursday for a Pine Bluff man currently on probation on theft and fleeing charges.

Jefferson County District Judge Kim Bridgforth set the bond after ruling prosecutors have probable cause to charge Jarvis Walters, 31, with theft by receiving and felony fleeing.

Reading from an affidavit from White Hall Police Investigator Clayton Cantrell, Deputy Prosecutor Mircha King said on Tuesday at 6:30 a.m., White Hall Police responded to a house in Whiter Hall where the daughter of the victim reported that her mother’s 2016 Red Ford Mustang had been stolen. The vehicle was valued at $20,000.

King said police put out a bolo (be on the lookout) and later located the car traveling north on Blake Street in Pine Bluff.

When Walters was questioned, he said he found the vehicle with the keys in it and took it. He also admitted during the chase.

King said Walters was placed on probation on a charge of theft by receiving a gun.

He was told to come back to court on Nov. 1.
