A Pine Bluff man who has drug related charges pending was arrested in the early morning hours Friday after he was linked to two separate incidents in April.
Travis McCoy, 31, was accused of breaking into a business on East Harding Avenue on April 27 stealing some items and damaging others, and stealing a car from a church parking lot April 30.
Reading from an affidavit by Detective Keith Banks, Deputy Prosecutor Joe West said police were sent to Pro Audio April 27 in response to a reported burglar alarm.
West said McCoy’s mother also confirmed that the person in the store video was her son.
McCoy was located at Jefferson Regional Hospital where he was being treated for an injury and when questioned admitted breaking into the business and damaging property but claimed the owner of the car had paid him to damage it in an insurance fraud scheme. The owner however denied that claim, saying he only had liability insurance and would not have benefitted from damage to the vehicle.
West then told the court about the April 30 incident.
Detective Michael Merritt reported that when McCoy was questioned, he admitted stealing the car and having the gun and also that he was a convicted felon.
West said McCoy had drug related charges pending from a 2022 case and because of that, Pine Bluff District Judge John Kearney set a $10,000 cash only bond for each of the two incidents. McCoy was told to come back to court June 9.
