PBHS’s Ceremonial groundbreaking had multiple speakers for this “Historic” day

A ceremonial groundbreaking took place Wednesday morning at the current site of the Pine Bluff High School which will also be the site of the new high school.

Mayor Shirley Washington, State Representative and democrat nominee and presumed Mayor-elect Vivian Flowers, School District Board President Dr. Sederick Rice, State Board of Education Board Member and Pine Bluff High alumna Lisa Hunter, Millage Campaign Chairperson Erika Evans and several students took part in the ceremony with the mayor calling the day “Historic” for both the city and the school district.

Washington, who spent 38 years as an educator pointed out one feature of the school, saying she was happy that it would be under one roof, something she had never experienced.

Wrapping up her remarks, the mayor said this.

Flowers thanked those who supported the millage increase and said now the real work begins.
