1949-2025
With hearts full of love and gratitude, we honor the life of Vivian D. Polk Johnson, a beloved daughter, sister, aunt, and friend. Vivian was born on February 7th, 1949, in Wabbaseka, AR, the third of twelve children born to the late Cabe and Wallace Polk. She was the cherished granddaughter of the late Samuel and Annie Mae O ‘Bryant, Fred Polk, Sr., and Cassie Wilks.
Vivian’s foundation in faith was laid at an early age when she confessed a hope in Christ at Star Bethel Missionary Baptist Church in Wabbaseka, AR, under the leadership of Reverend N. B. McCall. She carried this faith with her throughout her life, always exemplifying kindness and unwavering devotion to family and friends.
Vivian received her education in Wabbaseka School District and proudly graduated from J.S. Walker High School in 1966. Determined to build a bright future, she relocated to Kansas City, Missouri, where she embarked on a long and fulfilling career at Southwestern Bell Telephone Company- dedicating over 30 years of service. When the company closed, she continued working at Mission Plastics, Inc., where she was known for her hard work and warm spirit until her well-earned retirement.
After many years away, Vivian made the heartfelt decision to return to Arkansas to be closer to her family. Vivian was a woman of grace, wisdom, and quiet strength, always offering a listening ear, words of encouragement, and a loving presence. Her laughter and warmth left an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of knowing her.
On Saturday, February, 22nd, Vivian transitioned from this life to her eternal home. Though she is no longer with us in body, her spirit lives on in the hearts of those who loved her. She was preceded in death by her parents, her two Sisters-Patricia Ann Polk and Barbara Ann Polk-Davis; her brother-Danny Polk, her two nieces-Marilyn Mays Walker and Lashonda Mays; as well as her two nephews-Stanley Mays and Anthony “Buddy” Mays.
Vivian leaves behind a devoted and loving family to honor her memory: Five brothers: James Polk (Laverne), Hampton, GA, Richard Polk (Ezera), Stuttgart, AR, Kenneth Polk and Dennis Polk, both of Pine Bluff, AR, Alfred Polk (Lover), Wabbaseka, AR, Sisters - Emogene Polk, Chicago, IL, Annette Branch (Cornovious) and Pauline Polk, both of Pine Bluff, AR, a bonus sister, Dorothy Baker of Kansas City, MO, a special great niece, Tennille Walker-Tate of Little Rock, AR, and Robert Veal of Kansas City, MO, a cherished companion. Vivian will also be sorely missed by aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
