Tim Cooney, 70
1954-2025

Tim Cooney, 70, of White Hall, was a beloved firefighter who enjoyed serving his community, spending time with his family, hunting and fishing, and traveling to NASCAR races whenever possible.

He passed away Saturday, February 22, 2025 in Pine Bluff surrounded by his family.

William Timbelton Cooney was born July 16, 1954 in Pine Bluff, son of Harold E. and Juanita Morrison Cooney.

He was reared and received his early education in White Hall, graduating from White Hall High School.

Tim served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam Era, stationed at Cecil Field in Jacksonville, Florida. While there, he met and married the love of his life, Pam Carter, in 1976.

After moving back to White Hall, Tim began working for International Paper. He later transitioned to the Pine Bluff Arsenal, where he retired as the Assistant Fire Chief from the Fire Department. After retirement, he worked for Spencer’s Marine where he spent his days surrounded by fishing and friends.

Tim was a member of the Wooley Hunting Club where he was a grandfather figure to all the kids. Tim never met a stranger and always had a story to tell.

He served his community as a member of the American Legion and the White Hall Volunteer Fire Department, retiring as Asst. Fire Chief he also served as a volunteer with the White Hall Police Department.

Tim loved NASCAR and traveled to races for over 25 years, including seven straight races after he retired from the Fire Department. Tim had been a long-time member of a local fishing group Fins & Shields.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Rhonda Cooney.

Survivors include his wife, Pam Cooney; daughter, Tiffany Daniel (Chad); three brothers, Harold Cooney (Monica), Larry Cooney (Susan) and Kevin Cooney; grandchildren, Lucas Beard, Jacob Beard and Maddisyn Wilkinson (Jacob); and one great-granddaughter, Illa Beard.

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Friday, February 28, 2025 at Robinson and Fuller White Hall Funeral Chapel with Brother Jonathan Witcher officiating with military honors. Visitation will be Thursday evening from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at Robinson and Fuller.
