Sheri DeJarnette Flannery, age 68, of the Staves Community, died Monday, February 17, 2025 at her home, surrounded by her family.
Born February 2, 1957 at Pine Bluff, she was a daughter of Gracelle Jones Cash and the late Bobby Gardner. She graduated from White Hall High School in 1975 and earned a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from the University of Nebraska.
Sheri was an officer with the Nebraska State Highway Patrol from 1976-1980. From 1981 until 1991, she was an institutional probation officer with the Arkansas Department of Corrections. She was the co-owner of Star Time Video in Pine Bluff from 1991 until 1995. Since 1995, she worked for the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff where she was assistant director of facilities management.
She loved her church family at Bethel #1 Missionary Baptist Church. She also enjoyed fishing and riding her motorcycle.
In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by two husbands, Jimmie DeJarnette and Larry Sipes; and a sister, Nancy Locke.
Survivors include her husband, James “Jim” Flannery, whom she married on November 27, 2017 at Rison; her mother, Gracelle Cash; three daughters, B. J. DeJarnette, Autumn DeJarnette, and Amber Oliver; three granddaughters, Kelci Funderburg, Alyssa Funderburg, and Emma Oliver; a sister, Tammy James; special sisters, Tammy Hurst and Lisa Rhodes; special brothers, Mark Proctor, Charles Wingard, and Tommy Hurst; a nephew, Steve Locke; and a niece Olivia Locke.
Visitation will be Friday, February 21, 2025, beginning at 1:00 p.m. at Fuller Hale-South Funeral Chapel in Pine Bluff. Sheri’s funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m. with Brother Mike Goodwin officiating. Burial will be in Black Cemetery in Cleveland County. Bethel #1 Missionary Baptist Church will serve a meal following the graveside service.
