Ruby Gay Smith, age 79 of Fordyce died Friday, February 28, 2025 at her home. She was born October 6, 1945 in Laurel, Mississippi.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Bernice Poore and Myrle Johnson Poore; husband, Lonnie “Jack” Smith; three brothers, Bart Sheffield, Donald Poore and Richard Poore; and one infant son.
She is survived by three daughters, Katherine (Jerry) Moody of Fordyce, Amanda (Jermy) Purifoy of Harmony Grove, Betrice Davis of Bearden; one bonus sister, Sue Poore of Laurel, MS; seven grandchildren, Amber Davis, Nathan Davis, Jacob Davis, Tyler Moody, Shelby Moody, Zack Purifoy, Bryce Purifoy; and six great grandchildren.
Graveside services will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday at Salem Cemetery in Bearden.
