Phyllis Lynne Carter, 74
1951-2025

Phyllis Lynne Carter, 74, of Pine Bluff, was a talented artist with an infectious personality who loved taking care of people.

She passed away Monday, April 21, 2025, at Jefferson Regional Medical Center.

Phyllis was born on January 19, 1951, in Pine Bluff, daughter of Billy Carter and LaVerne McCrary Carter.

She was reared and received her early education in Pine Bluff, graduating from Pine Bluff High School. After graduating from the JRMC School of Nursing, Phyllis earned her Advanced Practice Registered Nurse degree from the Texas Woman’s University.

Her career as a nurse practitioner included time with Jenkins Memorial Center in Pine Bluff, UAMS in Little Rock, Daughters of Charity Health System and SCAN through the Jefferson County Health Department.

She loved music, painting, including helping to design sets for the Arts and Science Center for Southeast Arkansas, and photography.

Phyllis was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church in Pine Bluff.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Chris Carter.

Survivors include her two sons, Malcolm Attwood (Silvia) of Rogers and Hastings Attwood (Kayla) of Conway; two daughters, Lynne Monk of Hot Springs Village and Lorelei Sublett of Little Rock; two sisters, Suzette Rice (Phillip) and Renee Rowe (James); brother, Ardell Carter (Lynn); grandchildren, Alec Baty, Daniel Baty, Vince Monk, Malcolm Marks Attwood, Ellis Maxine Attwood, Bishop Attwood, Greer Attwood and Sophie Hernandez; best friend and housemate, Rilla Chandler; and many nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Visitation will be Thursday, May 1, 2025, from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at Ralph Robinson and Son Funeral Directors. There will be a private interment at the Trinity Columbarium.
