1943-2024
Pearlie M. Williams was born to Charlie Williams and Lourine Rayford Williams on January 23,1943 in Pine Bluff, Arkansas. At an early age, she accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at Highland Missionary Baptist Church, under the leadership of Rev. S.B. Scott.
While a student at Coleman High School, Pearl played in the band and sang in the choir. After graduation in 1961, in pursuit of her dreams, she relocated to Chicago, Illinois where she met and married the love of her life, Mr. Charles Gibbs. Their union was blessed with a son, Geoffery. The journey that followed was filled with challenges, triumphs, and many beautiful memories, until he was called home.
After 40 years of exemplary service, she retired from Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Illinois. She returned to Pine Bluff and continued her work in God’s Kingdom as a member of the choir at Highland Ministries. After retirement, she worked at Greenville Elementary School for several years. A passionate gardener, Pearl spent many hours embracing the peaceful solitude of working in her yard, diligently cultivating the soil, transforming it into a beautiful landscape. And her exceptional culinary skills produced many appetizing dishes, especially her delectable pound cakes! She loved the excitement of traveling, attending football games and watching them on TV.
On October 25, 2024, Pearlie answered the call, left this world and its sorrows behind, and now rests in the presence of the Lord. Aside from her parents and husband, her sister, Jerline Johnson and three brothers, James Franklin, Cleophus Williams and Melvin Williams, all preceded her in death.
Pearl leaves a legacy of countless treasured memories with her son, Geoffery (Moniet) Gibbs and grandson, Koy R. Gibbs; two sisters, Louise Williams King and Mildred Williams Baker; a special cousin and “dancing partner”, Luther Jones; a host of adored nephews, nieces, cousins, extended family members and friends. Her profound love for her family will be felt for generations to come.
Visitation 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Friday, November 8, 2024, at Brown Funeral Home, Pine Bluff, AR. Her funeral service will be held 2:30 p.m. Saturday, November 9, 2024, at New Community Baptist Church. Eulogy by Rev. Reginald Williams. Services entrusted to Brown Funeral Home of Pine Bluff, AR.
