Norman E. Austin was born on April 11, 1942, in Humphrey, Arkansas, to Sam and Jeanne Austin. He departed this life on February 24, 2025 at Baptist Health Medical Center in Little Rock, Arkansas.
He attended New Mt. Zion Rehoboth C.O.G.I.C, where he worshipped under the guidance of Supt. L.T. Walker, Jr.
Norman attended Holman High School.
On January 4, 1970, he married Betty Gaither, and the two shared 47 years of marriage until her passing. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, and uncle, Norman was known for his deep love of family, especially his granddaughter Tiffany, who held a special place in his heart.
He worked at various places throughout his life, including R & W Manufacturing, Sportsman Restaurant, and Potlatch, before becoming the owner of a local laundromat. Norman loved mowing, gardening, and working on cars.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Betty Austin, brother Willie Austin, and sisters Renda Mae Bryant and Dimple Williams.
Norman leaves to cherish his memory his sons Rodney Gaither of Des Moines, IA and William Austin of Stuttgart, AR; grandchildren Tiffany Austin of Stuttgart, AR and Rodney Gaither, Jr. of Des Moines, IA; sister Maeola Cunningham of Jacksonville, AR; brother/nephew Norman R. "Booney" Austin of Stuttgart, AR; nieces Stacey Cunningham and Jennie Cunningham, both of Jacksonville, AR, Jennifer Stewart of Stuttgart, AR, and Marian Cunningham of North Little Rock, AR; nephews Marvin Cunningham of Jacksonville, AR, Romero Cunningham of Maumelle, AR, Thaddeus Cunningham of North Little Rock, AR, and Novell Stewart of Memphis, TN; and other relatives and friends.
