Msg. William Eugene "Gene" Jackson, 84, of DeWitt died December 4, 2024. He was born November 8, 1940, in DeWitt to Floyd and Lois Shook Jackson.
Gene retired from the Army National Guard. In his retirement years, he loved going to the greyhound races and horse races. Gene enjoyed running trotlines and spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Barbara Ann Simpson Jackson; and brothers John Walton Jackson and Billy Joe Jackson.
Gene is survived by his daughter Holly Bobben (Dave) of Benton; grandchildren Megan Eoff (Adam) and Darcey Perry both of Benton, and Ashley Hodges (Jonathan) and Allison Quattlebaum both Searcy; great grandchildren Sawyer Eoff, Logan Hodges, Navie Bobben, Camden Neal, Peyton Quattlebaum, Kinsie Quattlebaum, Riley Hodges, and Gabe Hodges; and his brother Charles Floyd Jackson (Joyce) of DeWitt.
Visitation will be Friday, December 13 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Essex Funeral Home. Graveside services will be 2:00 p.m. December 13 at DeWitt Cemetery.
