Mildred F. McAdams Pierce, 104
1921-2025

Mildred F. McAdams Pierce, 104, of Pine Bluff, was a loving and cheerful woman who never met a stranger and attributed her long life to her love for the Lord and honey in her coffee.

She went to be with the Lord Thursday, March 13, 2025 at her daughter’s home in Jacksonville.

Mrs. Pierce was born on February 27, 1921 in Jefferson County, daughter of James Paschal McAdams and Alberta Faye Horton McAdams.

She was reared and received her early education in Watson Chapel.

Mrs. Pierce was a member of Watson Chapel Baptist Church for over 50 years and enjoyed sewing, fishing and cooking. She used her sewing talents to make at least 75 pillowcase dresses for a church mission and was well known for cooking squirrel dumplings for a men’s banquet at the church every year. Mrs. Pierce also served as treasurer for her Sunday School class for many years.

She was a power machine operator for Nevada Manufacturing for 23 years, retiring in 1980.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Charles Adair Pierce, whom she married January 21, 1939 in Jefferson County; son, Ray Pierce; sister, Margaret Jean Dilbeck; brother, James McAdams; and daughter-in-law, Mary Dell Pierce.

Survivors include her son, David Lee Pierce of Mt. Ida; daughter, Faye Sawyers (Leonard) of Jacksonville; 11 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, March 18, 2025 at Watson Chapel Baptist Church with Brother Todd Howard and Brother Steve Monk officiating. Interment will follow in Fitzhugh Cemetery by Ralph Robinson and Son Funeral Directors. Visitation will be Tuesday morning from 9:30 a.m. until service time at Watson Chapel Baptist Church.
