Martha Sue Pointer, 87
1938-2025

Martha Pointer, a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed peacefully into the arms of her Savior on March 23, 2025.

Martha was born in Rison, Arkansas, before moving to Kingsland then White Hall. She and her beloved husband, H.D. Pointer, married 63 years until his passing in 2017, moved to Pine Bluff and built their lives centered around faith, family and service.

To know Martha was to know unconditional love. Her life was a testament to her commitment to her Lord and Savior and willingness to be His hands and feet. With an unwavering servant’s heart, she found her greatest joy in giving, always ensuring those around her were cared for, loved, and well-fed.

Martha’s home was known to be a place of warmth and laughter, with a home-cooked Southern meal always on the table and baked goodies ready for dessert. Nothing brought her more joy than having all of her family gathered around the table, sharing laughter and stories. Beyond these treasured moments, her heart was always lifted in daily prayers and thankfulness for blessings and protection over her loved ones. Her love was boundless, her kindness unmatched, and her commitment to her faith was the foundation of her life.

Outside of the home, she worked as a licensed optician with Dr. Milton Hughes until retirement. She and H.D. were pillars of First Assembly of God in Pine Bluff, faithfully serving the Lord since joining the church at 1313 Pine Street in 1956. Martha was actively involved in women’s ministry, taught Sunday School, and spent years cooking and serving for youth ministries, showers, funerals, and any occasion where a helping hand was needed.

For Martha, there was no greater joy than to care for others. Her life is a story of faith that endured, hands that served, and a heart that loved without measure.

She was preceded in death by her father Jesse Edward Adams and mother Rachel Turner Adams, along with husband, H.D. Pointer, and her eldest daughter, Jayne Logan. She is survived by her son-in-law, Richard Logan; daughter, Becky Pointer Bilgischer; and son, David Pointer and his wife, Beverly. Her family also includes four grandchildren—Chris and Brett Bilgischer, Christy Logan Blevins and husband John, and Suzanna Logan Palmer and husband Tommy—as well as nine great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 P.M. Thursday, March 27, 2025, at Ralph Robinson and Son Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday, March 28, 2025, at First Assembly of God, Pine Bluff. Burial will follow in Graceland Cemetery.

The family requests that memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society online at https://donate.cancer.org/ in honor and memory of her family members who have been affected by cancer.
