Leon Marvin Ferguson, 83
1941-2025

Leon Marvin Ferguson of Maumelle, formerly of Mena, AR, died February 4, 2025. He was born July 20,1941, in Opal, Arkansas. He was 83 years old.

Leon graduated from Oden High School in 1959. He received his bachelor and master degrees in agriculture from the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville and served in the U.S. Navy for four years. He was the Polk County agent for the University of Arkansas Extension Service from 1981-1997 and operated a family cattle farm in Polk and Montgomery counties. He was a member of the Maumelle United Methodist Church and active in the Mena United Methodist Church for many years. Leon enjoyed fishing, boating, and traveling with his wife.

He was preceded in death by his father, Marvin Ferguson; his mother, Bertha (Edwards) Ferguson; and a sister, Connie (Ferguson) Drager.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Martha (Staudinger) Ferguson; one brother, Lonnie D. Ferguson, and wife Melba; two children, Neil Ferguson and Nancy Ferguson; and six grandchildren, Braydon, Reagan, McKenzie, Kayl, Gunnar, and Cadence.

Visitation and service will be Thursday, February 6 starting at 1:00pm at Griffin Funeral Home Chapel in Dumas. Pastor Justin Ledbetter of Maumelle United Methodist Church will officiate. Burial will follow at Tillar Cemetery in Tillar.
