2007-2025
Landon Gray Metcalf, 17 of New Edinburg, died Monday, March 3, 2025.
We ask ourselves constantly why the most beautiful souls are chosen to leave this world in unfair ways. Why are they taken away to soon? We have come to terms with an answer that we “choose the most beautiful flowers in a field to take home with us.” God chose the most beautiful soul to take home on March 3, 2025 at Dallas County Medical Center.
To know Landon is one thing, but to understand his humor, his wit, his quietness, his one-word comebacks, and his dearly love is another. His mother, Diana Kim Metcalf and father, Tracy Lyn Metcalf, had prayed for a miracle baby and were granted the best miracle of all. Landon came into this world on November 27, 2007 in a hurry, almost becoming a “car floorboard baby.” He was born at Jefferson Regional Medical Center in Pine Bluff, Arkansas.
His sister, Mallory Lyn Metcalf, was blessed with a brother she had begged for and will always be grateful for. Since he entered this world, Landon brought so many smiles and laughs to so many faces. Many funny and happy stories could be shared about Landon that can go on for pages. He believed he was not noticed, but dare we say he was wrong. The love he gave has been given back ten-fold following his passing.
He is preceded in death by his grandmas; Sheila Gray and Libby Metcalf.
He is survived by his parents; one sister, Mallory Metcalf; two grandpas, Jim Gray (Tine) and Jerry Metcalf; his uncles and aunts, Michael and Shawn Metcalf and their children Austin and Allie, Kevin and Cindy Gray and their children Stephanie, Ashley, Alyssa, Maranda and KJ, Keith Gray and his children Devin, Hannah and Payton, and Kandi and Zach Hart and their children Jackson, Declan, Alex and Aidyn.
A visitation will be Sunday evening from 4PM until 6PM at 1st Assembly of God Church in Fordyce. Funeral services will 2PM Monday at 1st Assembly of God Church in Fordyce with Rev. Nathan Hubbard and Rev. Kevin Hornaday officiating. Burial will follow at Shady Grove Cemetery near New Edinburg. Arrangements are by Benton Funeral Home of Fordyce. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be made to Morning Meadow Animal Rescue and/or the Dallas County Museum.
