Joe F. Smith, 86
1938-2025

Joe Feilden Smith 86, of White Hall, and former long-time resident of Dumas, Arkansas passed away on February 21, 2025. Born in Benton, Missouri on April 25, 1938, the son of the late Joe Bridges Smith and Mary Elizabeth Kirby Smith. His parents, a brother and sister all preceded him in death.

Mr. Smith was member of Dark Corner Christian Church; he was a Master Mason. He enjoyed yard work but most of all loved his grandchildren. Mr. Smith retired after many years as a River Boat Captain. He was formerly employed by Patton-Tully in Memphis and Luhr Brothers of Columbia Illinois. I think Joe’s son in law said it best “He was such a good honorable man. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend to many. Idk anyone who would or could speak one ill word of the man. He had such a pleasant attitude. When most wouldn’t have, he did. Always.”

Survivors are his wife Loice Smith of White Hall, Arkansas and daughters Kim Cason of White Hall, Arkansas and Tammy (Wayne) Caldwell of Dumas, Arkansas, three grandchildren Josh Phillips, Katelyn Phillips and Addison Caldwell and two great grandchildren Beckett and Banks Phillips.

Visitation from 5-7pm on Tuesday, February 25, 2025, at Griffin Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral services at 1 pm on Wednesday, February 26, 2025, at Griffin Funeral Home, burial will follow in Dark Corner Cemetery.
