1932-2024
Joe Donald Wood, 92, of Pine Bluff, went to be with the Lord, Saturday, October 19, 2024. He was born July 8, 1932 in Humphrey to James C. Wood and Lillie Sanders Wood.
Joe was reared and educated in Humphrey, then served in the US Navy for four years after graduating High School. He went to business school for four years then worked at Sears for 38 years, mostly as the appliance manager, before retiring. Joe then opened Joe’s Used Appliances and Sales. He loved gardening, fishing, golf and deer hunting and was a member of First Assembly of God Church in White Hall.
Survivors include his wife of 72 years, Louise Battles Wood, whom he married October 13, 1952; daughters, Deborah Hess (Al), Diann Church (Steve) and Tonya Giardino (Anthony); eight grandchildren, Joseph Wilkinson, Amanda Simpier, Ricky Hess, Leah Campbell, Joshua Merritt, David Merritt, Greg Simmons and Chase Barrett; and nine great grandchildren, Kylie Kelly, Landon Simpier, Christian Campbell, Caleb Campbell, Preston Merritt, Nolan Merritt, Henry Merritt, Milleigh Kate Merritt and Luke Merritt.
Preceding him in death were his parents; daughter, Sharon Wilkinson; brothers, J.C. Wood, Tommy Wood and Cecil Green; sisters, Ella Gaydos and Maude Warden. and great grandson, Alexander Wilkinson.
Funeral service will be 11:00 AM, Wednesday, October 23, 2024 at Ralph Robinson & Son. Pastor Jason Campbell will officiate. Burial will follow in Flynn Cemetery near Humnoke. Visitation will be 10:00 AM until funeral time Wednesday.
