Joan Freeman McCarty, 91 former longtime resident of Dumas, Arkansas departed this life in Malvern, Arkansas on December 1, 2024. She was born on December 6, 1932, the daughter of the late Curtis Alvie and Anna Bess Cross Freeman. Her parents, husband Harold McCarty, brothers Bill, Jack and Tommy Freeman and sister Emma Jean Powell all preceded her in death.
Mrs. McCarty was a member of the First Baptist Church in Dumas. She had been employed for forty-four years with (AP&L) Entergy, where she was an office clerk. Her favorite hobbies were sewing, cross stitching, and crocheting.
Survivors are her nephews, nieces, great-nephews, and great-nieces.
Visitation held at Griffin Funeral Home Chapel Thursday December 5, 2024, from 12:00pm- 1:00pm. Graveside service to follow at 1:30pm at Dark Corner Cemetery with Rev. Julius Carter officiating. Memorials may be to Arkansas Children’s Hospital, 1 Children's Way, Little Rock, AR 72202.
