1934-2025
Joan Shoop Harris age 90, of Pine Bluff, died Saturday, March 15, 2025.
She was a lifelong resident of Pine Bluff and was born April 6, 1934 to the late James J. Shoop and Willie Bell West Shoop.
Mrs. Harris was a member of Pine Bluff First Assembly of God for over 75 years and had served the church as a pianist and organist, along with the Food Team. She also enjoyed cross-stitching.
She married James Calvin “J. C.” Harris, Jr. on April 8, 1955 at Hot Springs. He preceded her in death on September 5, 2013. Her greatest work was being a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a brother, William Howard Shoop; a sister, Barbara Dell Sipes; and her half-sisters, Evalee Tennison and Admar Duckett.
Survivors include her children, David Harris (Janet) and Sandi Metz (Steve); three grandchildren, Jamie Harris (Rebekah), Steven Harris, and Kelli Tommey (Will); along with six great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be Tuesday, March 18, 2025 from 1:00-2:00 p.m. at Robinson’s. Her graveside service will follow at 2:30 p.m. in Memorial Park Cemetery with Pastor Pat Hart officiating.
Since flowers have such a short earthly lifespan, the family requests memorials be made to Pine Bluff First Assembly, 1002 Ridgway Road, Pine Bluff, AR 71603, so that through their ministries, others will have the opportunity to join her in Heaven.
