Janice Adams Goodman, 88, of Pine Bluff passed away peacefully at home Wednesday, January 22, 2025. She was born May 24, 1936, in Pine Bluff, AR. She reached 70 years of marriage to Bobbie Joe Goodman on Tuesday, January 21, 2025.
Janice graduated from Pine Bluff High School in 1954 and played clarinet in the PBHS band. Music director R.B. (Scrubby) Watson taught her a love of music. She began employment with Arkansas Power & Light Company (now Entergy) in 1954. She took a hiatus in 1955 to join BJ in Cheyenne, WY during his service in the United States Air Force. After WY they spent some time in Belleville, IL before returning to Pine Bluff. She was employed by Entergy for over 30 years. She worked in finance and payroll and completed her career as payroll supervisor.
Janice was a long-time member of Good Faith Methodist Church. She served as treasurer of the Busy B’s, which sponsored a holiday bazaar and rummage sale to raise money for church projects. In recent years she transferred her membership to Central Presbyterian Church.
Janice joined the Salvation Army Women’s Auxiliary in 1992. She was a member of the PBHS class of 1954 Lunch Bunch and Bunko Groups. She loved all her friends and enjoyed spending time and doing activities with them.
Janice was an accomplished piano player. She could play anything if she had the music. Her many beautiful pieces of hand embroidery are cherished by friends and family. She found joy in cooking and entertaining friends and family with creative menus and party innovations. She and BJ enjoyed travelling for business and pleasure. Gulf Shores was a favorite fun destination.
She was preceded in death by her son, James Kent Goodman (1959 – 2006) widow, Christie Heath; her parents, Howard Kent Adams and Norma Mitchell Adams; and her sister, Jane Adams Margrave.
Survivors include her high school sweetheart B.J. Goodman; sons, Howard Baker Goodman (Cathy) of Nashville, TN and Robert Carl Goodman of Manchester, TN; grandchildren, Renee Smith (Baker), Sydni Green, Gabby Goodman (Carl), Jeremey Goodman, Alex Goodman (Kent); five great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation is scheduled for Monday, January 27, 2025, from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at Ralph Robinson & Son in Pine Bluff. A graveside service will follow in Graceland Cemetery at 2:15 p.m.
