1945-2025
Gerry Ann Martin, of Sheridan, passed away from complications of open heart surgery on March 20, 2025. She was 80.
She was born on January 19,1945 in Camden, AR. A lifelong educator, she viewed helping others reach their potential as her calling from God. She taught 9th grade Social Studies from 1986 to 2007 in Sheridan School District. She was also a Quiz Bowl Sponsor.
She was an active member of First Landmark Baptist Church in Sheridan for many years.
Preceding her in death were her husband, John Andrew Martin; her mother, Hazel McGugan Holmes; her father, Sidney R. Holmes; and her niece, Barbara Ann Appleby.
Left to cherish her memory are her brother, Mac Reese Holmes of Troy, AL; her sister Carole H. Appleby, of Minneapolis, MN; her daughter, Anne Elizabeth Roberts, of Gastonia, NC; her granddaughter Grace Elizabeth Roberts, of Gastonia, NC; her nieces Anne A. Larson, Laura A. Fagan, and Patricia A. Donatelli, and numerous friends and former students in Sheridan.
A memorial service will be held Thursday, March 27, at 2 p.m. at First Landmark Baptist Church in Sheridan, preceded by receiving of friends at 1 p.m.
