1922-2025
Gene Oliver of Redfield, Arkansas was born November 7, 1922 in Little Rock, the son of the late Earnest and Merdle Kirkendale Oliver. He was a member of Pine Grove Baptist Church in Sweet Home and had served in the Coast Guard for many years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and drinking coffee. He didn’t like to sit still, always on the go Simple Man, Simple Life.
Mr. Oliver passed away on Easter Sunday, April 20, 2025 in Fordyce at the age of 102.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 71 years, Doris McKinney Oliver; son, Charlie Oliver and a grandson, Casey Oliver.
Survivors: son, Barry “Buck” Oliver of Fordyce; sister, Eva Bently and grandchildren, Grant, Carrie, Katie; great grandchildren, Taylor, Cody, Lexie; great great grandchildren, Charlie, Benjamin, and Keagan and a host of nieces, nephews and many friends.
Graveside service will 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, April 23, 2025, at Woodson Cemetery in Saline County, with Bro. Scott Smith officiating. Pallbearers are TomTom Hughes, Abner Garner, Sam Bentley, Keith Stanley, Larry Heavner and Aaron Whitehead.
