Ed Carrington, born on May 8, 1949, in Pine Bluff, Arkansas, passed away peacefully on March 17, 2025. He was a devoted husband to Mary Ann Carrington and a beloved figure in both his family and community.
Ed earned his Master’s degree in Industrial Engineering from Georgia Tech University and dedicated his career to Carrington Electric, where he served as President and CEO, following in his father's footsteps. A Master Electrician by trade, Ed was passionate about ensuring qualified individuals thrived in the industry. His commitment to education and excellence led him to serve long-standing roles by serving on the boards of the Arkansas Construction Education Foundation, Arkansas Board of Electrical Examiners, and Arkansas Apprenticeship Steering Committee.
Called “a gracious Southern gentleman” by many friends and colleagues, Ed was known for his kindness and gentle spirit. He will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by his friends, family, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Mary Ann Ruple Carrington; brother-in-law, Jeff Ruple of Sherwood; sister-in-law, Gwen Beason (Lee), of Sherwood; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death were his parents, E.K. Carrington and Gladys Logue Carrington; and brother, Jerry Wayne Carrington.
