1943-2024

Douglas MacArthur Patrick, 81 of Star City, passed away Thursday, October 17, 2024 at home. He was born April 20, 1943 in Cleveland County to the late James “Jim” and Susie Powers Patrick. He was a member of Pleasant Hill Missionary Baptist Church near Star City. He graduated from Woodlawn High School in 1961, where he played basketball. He retired as a super calendar supervisor from International Paper after 39 ½ years. Doug enjoyed his grand and great-grandbabies. He loved to crappie fish, play golf and play dominoes.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Sissy Patrick Harvey, who died August 22, 2024; his parents, Jim and Susie Patrick; two brothers, J. E. Patrick and Floyd Newton Patrick; two sisters, Edith Patrick and Kay Patrick Reep; a nephew, Steve French; and a niece, Lisa Patrick Bobo.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Ann Rice Patrick, whom he married September 1, 1961; one son, Glenn Douglas (Connie) Patrick of Star City; son-in-law, Shawn Harvey of Star City; three grandsons, Drue (Lauren) Harvey and Lance (Payton) Harvey, both of Star City and Dylan (Allison) Parsons of Mt. Home; one granddaughter, Brandi (Chance) Byerly of Star City; five great-grandsons, Bryson Patrick Byerly, Christian Mac Harvey, Korbyn Mitchal Harvey, Colt Ridge Harvey, and Brennan Parsons; one great-granddaughter, Shawn Mazie Harvey; three brothers, James (Gale) Patrick of Star City, Jerry (Sherry) Patrick and Billy C. (Barbara) Patrick, both of Rowell; four sisters, Patsy Foreman of Fairfield, Pansy (Mike) White of Herbine, Judy Perry of Warren and Wanda Cruce of Monticello; brother-in-law, Eugene (Bennie) Rice of Star City; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services are 3:00PM Sunday, October 20, 2024 at Griffin Funeral Chapel in Star City with Bro. Jackie Richardson officiating. Visitation is 1:00-3:00PM Sunday at the funeral home. Burial at Butler/Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers are Drue Harvey, Lance Harvey, Chance Byerly, Clay Patrick, Garry Lynn Morris, Russell Altom, Jeremy Thompson and Keith Morgan. Honorary pallbearers are Johnny Graves, Scotty Rice, Bryson Byerly, Korbyn Harvey and Christian Harvey.
