1949-2025
Dorothy Jean Bennett Warren’s life began on July 6, 1949. She was the eighth-born of ten children to the late Elisha and Sallie Mae Bennett. On Saturday, February 1, 2025, she made a peaceful transition to be with Our Heavenly Father in the home of her daughter.
She confessed her belief in Christ at an early age and was a lifelong member of the Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church in White Hall Arkansas, where she served in the Sunday School Ministry. During her ministry service she enhanced learning experiences with her intellectual and insightful reviews. She was the embodiment of kindness, gentleness, grace and class.
Being raised in the Shiloh community, developed her strong work ethic, compassion for others, and love of nature. She enjoyed assisting her mother, Sallie Mae with the outdoor daily tasks. Under her mother’s tutelage she learned how to utilize herbs to treat various ailments. Dorothy’s specialty was reviving sick plants.
In her early years, she attended school at the Barnes School and then matriculated to Coleman School District. She graduated from C.P. Coleman High School in 1967. Following graduation, she enrolled at University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff to study Education but was interrupted when she started a family of her own.
In 1969, she married Clarence Warren, and two children were born of this union. She devoted her life to this union for 33 years until her husband was called by his Heavenly Father. While raising her family she realized that she wanted to serve others. In 1987, she started her career in the Pine Bluff School District where she served as an instructional assistant for 33 years. Dorothy was passionate about helping children succeed in reading and writing. She had a talent for penmanship. She learned how to write in calligraphy and would often address bulk mailings with her signature calligraphy style. She often utilized her talents to help and mentor others throughout her career and life.
She was preceded in death by her husband Clarence Warren, five brothers Elisha Bennett Jr., John Bennett, Henry Bennett, Edward Bennett, General Bennett and Sister Wilma Sue Bennett Garrett. Her life and legacy will continue through her daughter, Deborah Warren Walton and her son Stephen Warren (Nicole). Her granddaughter Jasmine Warren. Two sisters Martha Bennett Williams (Rickie) and Velma Bennett Shy Shaw. Her brother James Bennett (Annie). She also leaves behind a host of family, friends, neighbors, and classmates.
