Donna Elois Goggans Heflin, 89 of Star City, passed away Saturday, March 8, 2025 at her home. She was born September 11, 1935 at her family’s home in Grady to the late Dunk and Edna Clauzell Baker Goggans.
Donna was a 1953 graduate of Star City High School, where she was a member of the FHA, cheerleader, lettered in basketball, and the Homecoming Queen. After high school she graduated from Baptist School of Nursing as a registered nurse. She went on to retire from the Arkansas Public Health Department in Lincoln County as administrator. While serving as the administrator she was appointed to the Health Services Advisory Board by Governor Bill Clinton.
Donna was of the Christian faith and was active in church renewals. She was a member of the Arkansas Cattlemen’s Association, enjoyed fishing, watching hummingbirds, loved to travel and go shopping, loved animals, especially horses, had a green thumb, enjoyed singing and playing piano, and she enjoyed singing in the Singing Christmas Tree at First Baptist Church. She loved spending time with her daughters and grandchildren.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Joseph Heflin.
Survivors include her husband of 68 years, Neal B. Heflin; 2 daughters, Kim Heflin Watts and husband Jerry of Cabot and Lisa Heflin Altom and husband Russell of Star City; 6 grandchildren, Lauren Mallory Leach, Ryan Michael Cotroneo, Lindsey Elizabeth Pearson, Jon Anthony Cotroneo, Leah Marie Lamb, and Ashley Elise Russell; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services are 2:00PM Wednesday, March 12, 2025 at Griffin Funeral Service Chapel in Star City with Bro. Elwin Ollar officiating. Visitation is 1:00-2:00PM Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial at Drake Cemetery. Pallbearers are Jon Cotroneo, Ryan Cotroneo, Troy Brown, Matt Russell, Jake Pearson, and Don Martin. Honorary pallbearers are Jerry Watts, Russell Altom, Jerome Sanders, and Steven Lamb.
