1949-2025
Cynthia Sue Fly, lovingly known as "Sis," went to be with her Lord on April 18th, 2025, at the age of 75. Born on August 9, 1949, in DeWitt, Arkansas, she was the daughter of the late Woodroe and Eva "Sue" Griffin Boyd.
Cynthia was a devoted wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and friend. She was married to the love of her life, Jerry Fly, with whom she built a home filled with love, laughter, and faith. Together, they raised their son, David Craig Fly. Her greatest joy in life was being a grandmother to Kathleen "Katie Beth" Fly, Abigail "Abby" Fly, Anna "Brooke" Fly, and Joseph "Joe" Fly, each of whom she cherished dearly.
She had a heart for education and spent several years teaching at DeWitt Middle School, where she impacted the lives of countless students with her kindness, patience, and encouragement. Cynthia’s love and compassion extended beyond the classroom and into her church and community. She was a devoted follower of Christ and served in many ways at Unity Missionary Baptist Church in DeWitt, where her faith was the foundation of her life.
Cynthia had a special place in her heart for animals and always had a beloved pet by her side. Her gentle and loving nature made her a friend to both people and pets alike.
She is survived by her son, David Craig Fly, and his wife, Amy, of Maumelle; four grandchildren, Katie Beth, Abby, Anna, and Joe Fly; and her sister, Becky Boyd Black. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry; her parents, Woodroe and Sue; her brother, Woodroe "Scottie" Boyd; and her stepfather, Bernard Norris.
Cynthia’s kindness, warmth, and unwavering faith left a lasting impression on everyone who had the privilege of knowing her. Her memory will live on in the hearts of her family, friends, and all those she touched throughout her life.
A service to honor Cynthia’s life will be held 10:30 a.m. April 21 at Unity Missionary Baptist Church with burial in DeWitt Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Unity Missionary Baptist Church (823 W. 4th St., DeWitt, AR 72042) in her memory.
