1932-2025
Billie Jo Cantwell, 92, of Sheridan, AR, went to be with her Lord on Sunday, January 12, 2025. She was born April 1, 1932, in Humnoke, AR, to James Joseph and Ethel Coleman Lyons. After graduating from Plum Bayou School, she worked various jobs before attending nursing school. She obtained her LPN’s license, and for a brief period worked at Jefferson Regional Medical Center before going to work at Davis Nursing Center, where she worked for over 29 years. She is fondly remembered by her family for her love of sewing, the meticulous care she took for her uniforms while working, making sure to iron every single crease to perfection. She also loved working in her yard and gardens, tending to the flower beds and raking up every single sweet gum ball she could find. Mostly, her family will remember her lasting legacy as a prayer warrior, knowing she called them all by name in prayer to the Lord. She loved serving and worshipping with others for many years at New Beginnings Baptist Church.
Billie was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Coy Cantwell, Sr.; a sister, Ruth Freeman; a grandson, Nathan Cantwell; and a great-great-granddaughter, Caroline Yelland.
Survivors include her sons, Coy Cantwell (Cindy) and Charles Cantwell (Stephannie); her daughters, Jeanie Roberts (Allen), Sheila Simmons, and Donna Kokoruda (Bill); 15 grandchildren, 44 great-grandchildren, 12 great-great-grandchildren; and a number of other relatives and extended family.
Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 P.M. Friday, January 17, 2025, at Robinson and Fuller White Hall Chapel, where a celebration of her life will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, January 18, 2025. Services will be officiated by her son, Rev. Charles Cantwell. Burial will follow in Cypress Memorial Gardens.
