It is with heavy hearts and profound gratitude for a life well-lived that we announce the passing of Audrey Jane Hoover, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and wife, who left this world peacefully on January 7 th , 2025 at the age of 71. Jane was born on August 31 st in Illinois to Alberta May (Stephens) Corniels and Warren Paul Hoover, where she first began her journey of bringing joy, love, and kindness to everyone around them. Her mom always said, “Janie was the best baby. She was always happy and never cried.”
From an early age, it was clear that Jane possessed a heart full of compassion. She loved her family fiercely. She was there for all of them anytime they were in need. Her love and listening ear will be greatly missed. Anyone who knew her, knows her love of animals as well. She had a special bond with horses and dogs from her earliest years. She always said, “Animals never hurt me and they know how to listen.”
Jane dedicated their life to her family, caring for her animals, and showing her dogs in dog shows all over the country. Whether it was sewing clothes for those she loved, making woodwork collies and horses, sharing a funny story from childhood, cooking a delicious meal or simply ending a listening ear, she had a way of making everyone feel valued and seen.
Family was the center of Jane’s world. As a devoted mom, wife, and sister, Jane created a home with unforgettable memories. A place any of us could go for refuge and comfort. From her delicious egg noodles, homemade fudge, and pies on the holidays to her love for family connection and togetherness, her presence was a gift to all who knew her. Not a holiday went by where she didn’t send a card to those she loved.
Jane will be remembered for her strong, stubborn streak, her will to get things done that needed done no matter what (we all remember her HOURS of mowing on the riding lawnmower because she “loved the sunshine and mowing”), her unwavering love for those she entrusted with her heart and the way they made people feel.
Jane leaves behind a legacy of love and strength that will endure in the hearts of those who had the honor of knowing her. She is survived by her son David Singer, her son Steve Hoover, and her daughter Billie Singer; her siblings, Crystal Burton, Sherril Freeman, and Tanya Ray, along with a lot of grandchildren and great grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and their children.
She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Larry Hoover, her parents Alberta and Warren, her siblings Karen, Joyce, and Kenneth, her granddaughter Kristen and multiple other family members and friends who were sure to be there waiting for her with a huge celebration.
A celebration of life will be held soon with details to be announced via Facebook as family is still in the process of determining date, location, and time to accommodate those who want to attend in honor of her life. Though Jane may no longer walk among us, her spirit lives on in the lives she touched and the memories we hold dear. Rest in peace, “Mom”, “Grandma”, “Sis”, “Aunt Janie”, “Janie”, “Jane”...You will be missed beyond measure but never forgotten.
In lieu of flowers, the family has set up a GoFundMe that has been shared on Facebook to cover end-of-life expenses and unexpected costs that come with the passing of a loved one. We TRULY appreciate all that has been done so far. Thank you all for loving her and please keep her spirit in your hearts and remember her kindness.
