Kentucky Derby winner Mystik Dan has drawn the same pole position for Saturday’s Belmont Stakes that helped win in Louisville last month. The horse, owned by Star City’s Lance Gasaway will load in the #3 position, a spot that has produced 16 previous Belmont winners. Currently, Mystik Dan, which finished a close second two weeks ago in the Preakness, is the third betting favorite behind Sierra Leone, which finished runner up to Mystik Dan at the Kentucky Derby and Mind Frame. Mystik Dan is currently 5-1 to win. Seize the Grey, which spoiled Mystik Dan’s shot to win the Triple Crown two weeks ago is currently 8-1, and will be loading in the #1 poll position, a spot that has produced the most Belmont winners.
For the first time since 1967, the race will not be run at Belmont Park. It will instead be at Saratoga, because Belmont is undergoing a $455 million dollar renovation. Post time for the race this Saturday is 5:41 CST.
