The City Council at Kingsland has voted to raise its pay.
According to the Cleveland County Herald, Council members’ pay will increase from $100 a month to $125 a month, after an ordinance was adopted at the most recent meeting.
In February, the council voted to increase their salaries but City Attorney Thomas Burns said the pay raises needed to be done by ordinance, so he adopted one that was approved.
Also at the meeting, no action was taken on annexing the Dollar General into the city limits.
According to the newspaper, a part of the parking lot is in the city limits but the store building itself is not.
Burns said he would bring some proposals to the council after Kelly Taylor, who helped recruit Dollar General brought a form from the company giving the city benefits of moving the store into the city limits.
