As schools in the Pine Bluff School District prepare to kick off the new school year, one major difference will be on everyone’s mind. That difference is that for the first time in a number of years, there will be no Dollarway School District. It has been absorbed into the Pine Bluff School District and students who formerly attended schools in the Dollarway District will be attending schools in Pine Bluff.

On Thursday, Jennifer Barbaree, the superintendent of the Pine Bluff School District was a guest on the Oldies 1013 morning show and was asked about combining the two districts together, particularly in light of the number of young people who have been killed so far this year in shootings that also involved young suspects.

Barbaree said that was one of the concerns students from the former Dollarway district shared with her.

She also confirmed that there will be police officers on campus.

Barbaree then went on to talk about other security measures for the district.
