The Jefferson County Quorum Court passed appropriations to release money for county road repairs following several instances of debate between Jefferson County Judge Gerald Robinson and Justice of the Peace Lloyd Franklin, Jr. and Justice of the Peace Alfred Carroll on Monday night.

In total, $491,464 dollars were allocated for road repairs following an unanimous vote by the quorum court.

The vote to appropriate the money came after a public input session where Dorothy Billingsley, a citizen that lives in the area of Hardin Road North, informed the quorum court that she had a petition signed by 90 residents asking for repairs to be made to Hardin Road North.

Calvin Dardenne, another Jefferson County citizen who lives in the area of Sorrells Road, was stern with the quorum court telling them to get out to ride the roads. He also asked County Judge Gerald Robinson about the lack of diesel to operate county vehicles.

Following the meeting County Judge Gerald Robinson said he welcomed the public input on Monday night.

A second ordinance that would have provided an additional $480,000 for roads did not pass. Robinson said it will have to be brought back in order to help cover more bills.

Robinson also addressed the lack of diesel.

Robinson finished by saying that there is a list of roads that county road crews will be going to work on now that money is available.
