The Jefferson County Quorum Court of Monday night again failed to pass a 2025 budget that would allow county employees to be paid for the first time since before the first of the year.
Seven of the now 12 members of the county’s legislative body voted no to the budget proposed by County Judge Gerald Robinson, despite Robinson amending his proposed budget and adding nearly $3 million, much of that for the sheriff’s department, adult jail and juvenile detention center, all controlled by Sheriff Lafayette Woods Jr.
Appearing on Oldies 1013 Tuesday, Robinson was asked about that.
Morning Show host Greg Horne said we think the difference is that there are 12 or 13 people who benefitted from the illegal raises and ask Robinson to explain that.
He went on to say this.
Robinson said none of the JP’s signed the legislation then explained further.
