A traffic stop by an Arkansas State Trooper Thursday resulted in the arrest of two people on drug related charges.
Samuel Wesley, 39, and Monique Cobb Wesley, 40, were taken into custody after Trooper Shane Caviness, who was southbound on Blake Street stopped a vehicle driven by Samuel Wesley because he was not wearing a seat belt.
During a court hearing Monday, Deputy Prosecutor Jill Reed said Wesley pulled into the parking lot of the Brierwood Inn after turning off Blake Street.
Samuel Wesley was detained for driving on a suspended license and for a felony body attachment for child support.
Reed said Caviness then approached Monique Wesley and had her write down her name and date of birth.
Jefferson County District Judge Kim Bridgforth set a $25,000 secured bond for Samuel Wesley and a $5,000 cash only bond for Monique Wesley after ruling prosecutors have probable cause to charge them with three counts of possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.
The cash only bond for Monique Wesley is because she has pending drug related charges from over two years ago in her maiden name, Monique Cobb.
They said they would hire their own attorneys.
